A new world

That’s it, we are in Antarctica!! After eleven days on the ship we arrived yesterday afternoon at 5°East, unloading area for the Norwegians. At “night” (there’s always day light now) we went for a walk on the sea ice and met penguins of all kinds and other animals, pretty much all of them are very curious so either they come very close to you to take a good look at you or you can approach them without scaring them, it’s amazing. The colours around here are stunning, when the sun is close to the horizon at midnight, the sky turns pink, turquoise and orange and the sun itself is surrounded by a perfect rainbow-like circle, a phenomenon that happens only here in Antarctica.
We should be unloading here for at leas 40 hours, then we will be leaving for Breid bay, our unloading area!
